Spaceships ahoi! Ruby Dixon, the queen of sci-fi alien romance is here today to answer our 8 questions. The creator of the most beloved blue-skinned race of romance book barbarians in this part of the universe plays Kiss, Marry & Kill with her book characters and discusses her favorite romance book trope.

Let’s play a game of 'Kiss Marry Kill' with your own romance heroes

This is a tough one. I've got so many awesome heroes, so let's go with the 3 Corsair brothers right now. Kiss Kaspar, Marry Mathiras, Kill Adiron (I'm sorry Adiron!!! It's just that Mathiras would make such an awesome husband!)

2) Your heroines, which one is most likely to a) bring world peace b) rescue a puppy c) wake up not quite knowing where they are d) couldn’t be bothered to fill out our questionnaire?

a) Bring world peace? Jade

b) Rescue a puppy? Daisy!

c) Wake up not quite knowing where they are? Maybe Bridget?

d) Couldn't be bothered to fill out the questionnaire? LIZ.

3) Which secondary character of yours really deserves their own book, but was done dirty by you?

Gosh, I try to be pretty nice to all my characters, but I guess Ereven and Claire? Or Gail and Vaza? Just because they had novellas instead of full novels.

What would you like to see more of in romance books?

More girls having each others' backs and being an awesome community for each other.

If you could retire one romance book trope once and for all, which one would it be?

There's room for everything! But if I had to vote a trope off of my particular island, I would probably vote against secret baby.

3 romance authors you are secretly upset with because they are so darn good?

I can only pick three?!

Kati Wilde, because she's my crit buddy and I just have the biggest girl crush on her. Everything she touches is magic.

R. Lee Smith (not exactly a romance author but all the romance readers I know love the books), because they are an AMAZING author and I would happily read anything they put out (I do not know or care if this author is male or female so I am using 'they').

Ella Goode because she makes it all look effortless! And she writes a fantastic hero.

Which one of your books would you recommend to a new reader?

Bound to the Battle God, because it still lives, rent-free, in my brain. I just loved the dynamic between those characters.
