Apache Fire (Zebra Lovegram) by Judith Steel
Meadowlark Russell had a crazy idea. What better way to flush out her father's killer than to pretend the murder attempt had failed? So the gorgeous Apache half-breed decided to continue her father's work as the San Carlos Indian Reservation agent, signing his name and keeping things running until his enemy paid her a call. She didn't count on having other visitors, especially one as nosy as Captain Brent McQuade. The handsome officer could ruin all her plans with his snooping unless she found a way to distract him! But when he took her in his arms and kissed her, she suddenly realized that distracting him wasn't going to be as difficult as resisting the dangerous desires he awakened!

Brent McQuade knew Meadowlark was giving him the runaround, but he couldn't imagine why. All he wanted was a meeting with her elusive father. Well, that wasn't all he wanted. He hadn't been able to get the copper-skinned beauty off his mind since he first saw her in those tight buckskin breeches. And he meant to get to know her very well, indeed. He'd start by tasting the sweet honey of her lips, explore the silken heat of her smooth flesh, and finally uncover all the searing mysteries of her wild Apache Heart.
