Chicago Heat by Jordyn Tracey
When Fawn Hill decides to win back her boyfriend—who was no good from the beginning—her decision to dress like a slut and make him jealous backfires. The other guys come on way too strong, her boyfriend gets in a fight, and Fawn finds herself out on the street walking home because her car chooses that moment to break down. To make the hell she’s in that much worse, Detective John Harris of the Chicago Police Department stops Fawn thinking she’s a prostitute.

If Fawn never sees the arrogant detective again after his false accusations, it will be too soon. But some bad first impressions are fated for a do-over. Fawn meets the sexy cop at the library where she works, and John is ready to give the spicy dark-skinned beauty a second chance. Fawn is amazed that John isn’t what she thought, especially seeing he’s raising his brother’s son all on his own.

Misunderstandings, outright lies, and a shooting make Fawn and John’s relationship seem impossible, but maybe love can bring it all together.
