Blood Storm

After Robert Merrill, a biochemist working at an elite private research center, mysteriously drowns in his swimming pool, his daughter, Kate, receives a strange request to escort a package to his associate in Atlanta. During the journey, her chartered plane is shot down over a remote area of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, leaving an injured Kate to die in a raging blizzard.
Ex-cop Sam Holden, a secretive recluse working as Wilderness First Responder, discovers Kate's half frozen body and takes her back to his cabin until the storm passes and he can arrange an airlift. He suspects there's more to Kate's story when she panics upon learning her backpack is still at the crash site. Sam braves the weakening blizzard to revisit the mangled plane and recover her belongings. Against Kate's wishes, he opens the locked box she's been transporting and discovers a formula to treat victims of Pneumonic Plague, along with a letter to a woman at the Center for Disease Control confirming an imminent bioterrorism attack instigated by the owner of the research center.

Sam realizes the terrorists will return for the contents of the box as soon as the storm allows for travel, which means his peaceful mountain top is about to become a hotbed of danger. Torn between the attraction he feels for his patient and the need to thrust her from his life, Sam tries to convince his base station to perform a risky airlift. They refuse until weather conditions are more stable.

As things heat up between the isolated couple, Kate learns of Sam's history in law enforcement. She attempts to hire him as a bodyguard to help her reach the Center for Disease Control. He refuses. Until the terrorists discover his cabin and launch an attack.

Sam and Kate embark on a cross country game of cat and mouse, barely evading assailants who always seem to know their exact location and will stop at nothing to intercept the formula before it reaches the CDC. Betrayed by those they trust, battling an intense attraction that grows more heated each day, the fugitives must depend on each other for survival.
After arriving in Atlanta and hiding the formula for safekeeping, Sam and Kate are captured and forced to cooperate with the terrorists. If they retrieve the lockbox and its contents, they will be given a choice. One will live. One will die. Who will they choose?
