River of Life by Kimberli S. McKay
Three months have passed since the events in Learning to Live Again. Three months since Clay Waters and Vicky Morgan placed their faith above their desires and decided Clay should try to save his troubled marriage.

Three months since Vicky's beloved aunt died unexpectedly during the night. Vicky calls Clay, but with disastrous results. Though Clay's wife had been adamant about divorcing him, after hearing he would be comforting the grief-stricken Vicky, she changes her mind and returns home. Heartbroken and alone, Vicky turns to the only friends she has left.

Nick Chapman struggled to understand why he survived a face off with a carjacker the previous year and Vicky Morgan's husband died. After he meets Vicky, he knows the answer. When her heart is broken and she once again finds herself alone in life, Nick and his wife invite her into their home.

Weeks before Christmas, Clay shows up on Nick's doorstep. Concerned Vicky will once again be hurt emotionally--and physically by the woman who views Vicky as the competition--Nick becomes obsessed with protecting her and the only chance he has to atone for a fatal decision. But the more he tries to rectify the past, the more he destroys his future. Can he protect Vicky and redeem himself before his wife--or a Higher Power Nick has long begrudged--demands an account for his actions?

Set against South Carolina's old Dark Corner, River of Life concludes the journey that began in Learning to Live Again.
