Lily Brightfeather by Ann Staadt
When Jay Osborne headed for his truck, after eating breakfast in the four corners area of the southwest, he was surprised when a beautiful Native American woman asked him for a ride. He nodded okay and they got in the truck and Jay drove on toward Cortez, Co. They exchanged a bit of information. He was on his way to the mountains near Delores, Co. to build a bike trail. She, Lily Brightfeather, frustrated by the tribal elders, who wouldn’t listen to new ideas, had quit her job as a teacher on the reservation. In Cortez they parted and Jay cursed himself for not finding more about Lily. Where could he find her? He spent the night in a motel, planning to head for his job site in the morning. The next day Lily appeared at the truck and asked to ride with him again. The next thing Jay knew Lily had talked herself into a job helping him build the bike trail. Jay’s head was spinning as he finally agreed to let her give him a hand. Would she sleep in his tent? How would they manage all the personal stuff? How would she help him with the work? Read Lily Brightfeather, by Ann Staadt, for the answers to these questions.
