Sweet Lucidity: Special Illustrated Edition by Melissa Bond, Teresa Hughes
Before the vampire apocalypse, there was their love.

What would you say to a centuries old vampire who knew in knowing him would lead to your extraordinary death? Sweet Lucidity follows the life of a young woman who found those very words. With deep roots in the small town of Fredericksburg, Texas, Melissa spent her youth with dreams larger than life, desires unique from others, all from traveling the world with her family. Melissa now has only her mother to call family, and her fears of living an ordinary life slowly begin to stifle her dreams. As an escape, Melissa throws caution to the wind, her reckless desires only bringing her death closer when she one day comes face to face with four exceptional strangers who curiously know more about her than she knows about them. These four strangers hold a secret that only few know about; they are immortal living off the blood of the living. Andrew, Ryan, Jeremy and David all know Melissa is significant to their own existence, but only time tells just how important she really is. Were they ever really prepared for what awaited them in the frozen sands moving silent and lucid through the hourglass?

From the author:

My initial intention for writing Sweet Lucidity was to immortalize a dear friend, and to tell a love story that was born from that friendship. However, the story blossomed beyond my expectations, and thousands of fans demanded more. Sweet Lucidity is more than a love story, it exposes the darkness that haunts humanity, and explores the fascination with immortality. Even in fantasy, a life immortal is not a guarantee. My deepest desire is for readers to not only love my work, but for my words to get under their skin and haunt their dreams.
