Love is Complicated by Jonathan Lazar
Jeffrey is a thirty-something and lost between the past and the present.
In the past, there is Ryan the roommate. And that was enough. Even though both longed and wished for more, neither could say the ultimate words that lingered upon their lips, and danced upon their hearts, I love you. Ultimately, that silence would cost Jeffrey much, as one day, before Ryan’s 30th birthday, he dies.
In the present are threads of friends not forgotten, but long spoken to. Threads shattered by the death of Ryan. Jeffrey never fully recovered from Ryan’s death but gladly put on the façade of moving on with the present. As well as his boyfriend, Colin, who seems to Jeffrey nothing more than a stranger in passing than a real person.
The pain of the past and the threat of a happiness may be more than Jeffrey can bare as he attempts to piece together and understand his love life.
