Detective Martinez returns to work on her homicide task force in New York after her partner and best friend was killed. Her first day back is intense as a killer who kills women by using their coma induced bodies as planting beds is discovered. Again Dr Sonya Lampard, one of the FBI’s best profilers is called in to assist with the case.

Martinez finds it hard to work with Lampard as she blames her for the death of her friend, but even more difficult is the unresolved sexual tension between the two. While the chief forces them to work together, they have no choice but to face their issues.

Special Agent Nicole Stanley, Lampard’s ex-girlfriend, comes to New York to help the department catch the killer dubbed ‘The Farmer’ and things gets more complicated. When Martinez is shot, she seeks solace from the cute Medical Examiner. Lampard does not take this too well, and is forced to make a choice - her ex-girlfriend or Detective Martinez.
