The freshman year is tough for most boys, but starting six weeks late is a nightmare.
After his father loses his job in Washington State, Chuck Mc Williams starts at a new high school in Central California at the end of September. Insecure about himself he thinks his biggest problems will be adjusting to the hot, dry, climate and overcoming bullying from members of the cross country team.
When he agrees to go to the Homecoming Dance with 'The Weird Girl' of the freshman class, he only worries it will lead to more bullying. Unaware of his destiny, he's thrown head long into battles with the supernatural, and discovers the unique magic of romance.
