ROMANCE: His Reluctant Heart (Sweet Western Historical Romance) (Victorian Clean Romance Short Stories) by Jane Prescott
Love shows up when you least expect it.

Eddie James is a broken man; he’s had a long life filled with loneliness, making his living as a painter and builder in his small town, but never settling down because of his heavy baggage. Though he is content with his life, his uncle Raymond has other ideas: he doesn’t believe his nephew is as broken as he thinks, and he’s determined to show him that he is more than his mistakes. Suddenly, Eddie has a mail order bride on the way, and he’s forced to face his fears head-on.

Martha Hannigan doesn’t believe in questions without answers, or problems without solutions. She’s determined to prove Raymond right, and thanks to the strength from experiencing her own hard-ships she’ll do it with or without Eddie’s help. Her new husband doesn’t want to give her ---or himself--- a chance, but she didn’t come across the country only to be sent packing away. Can a big-city teacher show a painter how to embrace the smudges on the canvas of his life?
