Riley is very naive when it comes to the opposite sex but can't deny the feelings he is stirring within her. She feels a let down when she watches the handsome cowboy leave the bar with a beautiful woman. She wonders if the physical attraction was just one sided.
Jeremy can't believe his bad luck when one of his ex's makes a scene at the bar and asks him to drive her home. He was enjoying dancing and flirting with the pretty "vet" but feels compelled to make sure the intoxicated woman gets home safely. When she tries to seduce him he explains again that it's over between them. He returns to the bar where he discovers that Riley has left and goes home.
While on a call Riley overhears two women talking about Quinn and his ex. It gives her hope that maybe his isn't a "player" after all. Riley and her best friend attend the bar the following weekend and meet a lot of new people. Riley is "aware" when Quinn walks into the bar. Their eyes meet and the electricity between them sizzles. Quinn makes his way over to their table and the two dance and flirt with the undeniable physical attraction between them.
Riley confides to her best friend that she is afraid of her feelings but her friend encourages her to take a chance and let the cowboy show her "how good it can be." Riley can't deny the fire within her and goes home with Quinn. He awakens a side of her she didn't know existed and they spend a wonderful night together.
Jeremy is thrilled with the passion he uncovers with Riley and feels a true connection to her. After their night of passion he shows her his stables and works his horse for her. He is getting ready for the All American Quarter Horse Congress and will be concentrating on that for the next few weeks. As a young horse trainer his top priority has always been the horses and the riders. This is his time to shine. Will he let the "Vet" get in his head or is this just a fling for him? He doesn't think so as the Congress approaches and he finds himself still thinking of her. He finally gets the courage to ask her to stay with him on the grounds and she accepts. With their days full and long at least they have the nights together.
Riley is nervous and scared over the intense feelings she has for Jeremy. She lost her parents in a horrible tragedy and is all alone. Their death still haunts her and she is afraid to fall in love for fear of losing. Can she overcome her fear and let the cowboy sweep her off her feet or will her own insecurities prevent her from believing and trusting her heart?
To complicate matters, his ex girlfriend is a conniving woman who want's him back. She's willing to do whatever it takes to make him hers.
