Newbury, Michigan August – 1853

Joseph Clark was only thirteen when a house fire left his Pa injured and unable to do any work himself. Joseph had no choice other than to step up and take care of the ranch himself or chance losing it.

The only thing Joseph Clark has ever cared about is Clark's Creek Ranch, and he has worked long and hard to keep it in his family’s name.

Joseph has kept things running smoothly so far and he won't stop now. He has just turned twenty-five and has no plans to ever take a wife. Joseph wouldn’t have the time to look for one, even if he wanted too.

After a horse comes up missing he searches for answers, but never expected to find the beauty he discovers. Should he turn her into the sheriff or let her go?
Joseph quickly finds himself falling for her and decides he might just turn her into his wife instead. What will it take to make her want to stay with him on the ranch though?
