I was thirteen the first time I kissed my stepbrother Aidan--not just kissed him but really kissed him.

We had met the year before, and less than twelve months later we were brother and sister. But that wasn't nearly as important as the fact that in that one year we became best friends. Then puberty hit, and we kissed, and things changed. It scared us, so I made a promise: We would French kiss if we both reached eighteen and had never French kissed anyone. It worked. My brother made a new promise: If we graduated from college and we were both virgins we would lose our virginity to each other.
