Mail Order Bride - The Captive Bride
Margaret Campbell has never had a home, not really. Raised in an orphanage and then sent to work in
other people’s homes as soon as she was of age, Meg’s always longed for a place that she can call her
own. However, she has no opportunity to meet good men. In addition, her beauty keeps attracting the
wrong kind of attention, so when she sees an advertisement for a mail-order bride, it seems as though
God is answering her prayers. From the very first letter, Meg is enthralled with everything that Jacob
represents.
As a Texas sheriff married to his often dangerous job, Jacob Rinehart questions the wisdom of joining his
life to another’s , but when the opportunity to marry present itself in the form of a mail-order bride, the
lonely sheriff considers it. Although it might be selfish, he finds that he does want a wife, so he places an
advertisement in a New York paper and prays that God will send him a woman tough enough to survive
life in the Wild West, and life married to a lawman. After exchanging a few letters with a particularly feisty
young woman, he’s sure that Margaret is the one.
The date is set and the two are anxious to meet. However, someone in town does not want the sheriff to
live happily ever after. Pete Galloway, a despicable criminal whom Jacob was responsible for putting
behind bars, swears revenge and sets into motion a plan that could destroy their happiness.
How will the loathsome man’s plan involve Meg? Will she be able to handle the unexpected danger that
comes her way? When she doesn’t arrive on the scheduled date, will Jacob give up his dream of having a
good woman by his side or go out and look for her?
Come to Austin, Texas and see how two good people put their faith in God, but still struggle to find
happiness in a land filled with danger.
A story of perseverance, faith and hope.
