Mail Order Deception by Alix West
A Western, Mail Order Bride Romance
Olivia Stowe is the ward of Sheriff Will Kendal. He's cared for her ever since her father passed away. At seventeen she was trouble. Two years later she's worse. Sassy, headstrong, curvy and breathtakingly beautiful, Olivia is trouble and forbidden fruit. Just having her under his roof makes him half-crazed.

Will is known for his self-control, for collaring and subduing dangerous criminals, not for being challenged by a brazen girl ten years his junior. Everything changes when Olivia returns to Colter Canyon with the single intention of playing a seductive trick on her guardian.

From Chapter 5

Clutching the two mugs and her blanket, she left the kitchen and headed back for the stairs. Two figures appeared on the porch and she froze. The door swung open and Will’s brothers, Seth and Nick, came in. Both stopped in their tracks and stared at her.

“Olivia?” Seth said.

“Seth!” She glanced nervously at Nick. “Nick…uh, I was just making coffee.”

Both men stood silently, their brows lifted with surprise. Nick slowly closed the door behind him.

“You okay, Olivia?” Seth asked.

“Oh, fine. Sure. I’m doing fine.” She gave a breathless laugh. Mortification heated her skin. Not only was she barely covered by the blanket, but her hair was wild. Even worse – last night Will had nipped and sucked and marked her skin, like some sort of ravening animal. She hadn’t minded at all. In fact she’d loved it, but she was certain she had marks on her neck and shoulders. Nick and Seth were sure to have seen them. She cringed at what they must be thinking.

“I should get dressed. Excuse me.” She passed them and headed for the stairs.

“Olivia!” Will’s voice came from his bedroom. “I just noticed you scratched the hell out of my shoulder last night. Wicked little kitten. Next time I’m going to have to keep you tied up. And here I was worried you wouldn’t like…”

By this time Olivia had made it up the stairs and was moving quickly to his room when Will came out his bedroom door, dressed in pants and buttoning his shirt. He stopped in his tracks.

“What’s wrong?”

“Your brothers are downstairs,” she muttered as she passed him.
