A Place To Belong
Victoria Summer
NOTE: This is a sweet & clean short story.
Hannah has been made to feel worthless by her bitter step-father ever since her mother
passed away. She hasn’t been able to find a husband in Philadelphia, so he decides to
send her West to marry a stranger.
She responds to a simple advertisement for a wife and the letters she receives ignite a
small hope in her that maybe happiness isn’t just for other people, but she doesn’t dare
dream of love, just peace.
Carter Jennings is lonely and without family in the West. He places an advertisement in
a newspaper in to find someone to share his life, but when he receives Hannah’s
letters, his dreams become full-blown. She seems to be the perfect woman for him.
When she finally arrives, he finds a woman so broken by her past that a fierce
protection wells up in him, but can he be gentle enough to win her heart as well?
