Bonner's Way by Regina Carlysle
When tragedy strikes in Cotton Creek, Texas, the townsfolk don’t hesitate to circle the wagons and rugged rancher, Mac Bonner, is the first to step up when life throws pretty Callie Murphy a nasty curve. That’s what friends do, after all, but then she has always been more than a friend, as far as he was concerned. She is the one woman he never forgot and though she might not believe it, Mac is prepared to move heaven and earth to gain her love again. Ready or not, he aims to prove himself man enough for the task.
Losing Mac years ago had been a blow from which Callie had never fully recovered but nothing prepares her for the loss she faces now. Left with the care of two children, and more worries than a human ought to have, she vows to forge ahead and go it alone until Mac makes a giant leap back into her life and offers a hand. Trust is hard and accepting charity is downright painful but Mac’s persistence just might restore her faith in the power of love despite the odds.

Formerly Mac (a stand alone story in Men of Calder County boxed set). Re-edited and re-written with additional scenes. A prequel to Honky Tonk Angels series.
