Miss Helen's School for Western Mail Order Brides: Book 2: Matters of Survival by Debra Samms
Maggie came to America for a better life. Unfortunately, her parents had died along the way and she arrived penniless and without a home--and no one to turn to.

This is a clean western mail order bride story about the romance Maggie and Andrew, set in the Napa Valley of California in the late 1880's.

Maggie has no one but herself and no where to go. She is desperate to simply survive in this unfamilair place. Found by a police officer days before she would surely have died, her life is completely turned around with the help of Miss Helen at her school for Mail Order Brides. She worries about fitting in and struggles with certain American habits pertaining to bonnets and dresses, but these are small things in the scope of life. Of most immediate concern is finding a life and someone to love.

Andrew was a professor in the east but went West to realize his dreams. He hadn't counted on the loneliness that would beset him. He longed for someone to share his life and work side by side with him and give him children. There were no women locally so he decided to place an ad for a mail order bride. He was immediately taken by her, but of course love is not always easy and there are typically challenges that get it the one.

This is a story of survival and the tests that come in life not only from relationships but mother nature herself.

Can Maggie and Andrew overcome the natural disasters and how they each respond to them? Will their immediate attraction for one another grow and forge them as a strong union? Or will they be defeated as well?
