The Mind Reader (Billionaire Paranormal Romance) by Heather Royer
Chara Ferguson, a nurse at Broadview General Hospital, in Broadview, Ohio possesses that gift. She can read minds, hear the thoughts of others. It’s a powerful ability that she inherited from her grandmother. She uses it to help her patients overcome their disorders and help them heal. While it’s a gift in that setting, it can also be a burden for her personally.

Her grandmother encouraged her to use it to “promote the most possible good for the largest number of people possible with your gift.” That’s the reason Chara choose her career. Her colleagues, the doctors she works with and especially her patients view her as an incredibly intuitive young lady with a healing touch. None of them has a clue about how she does it.

What Chara’s grandmother failed to tell her, though, was that possessing it may cause her heartbreak. There was, after all, times when she would be better off not knowing what the person next to her was thinking. She does her best to manage this gift. But two men, who entered her life on the same day, make her doubt everything her grandmother ever taught her. When she meets Dr. Jean Renault, the latest addition to the hospital staff, she believes she’s found not only an incredibly intelligent doctor, but one hot man who seems to be romantically interested in her. Her hopes, though, are quickly dashed when she also reads his conflicting thoughts about using her solely as a stepping stone toward his next, bigger and better assignment along his career path. Then, again, just as quickly he sees her as a romantic partner. Chara is nothing if not conflicted.

As puzzled as she is about Renault, she doesn’t have much time to ponder his intentions because the same day she meets him, she also discovers the first patient whose mind she can’t read. He’s a multi-millionaire dollar businessman whose personal and professional life has caused enough stress to affect his health.

Chara is not only at a loss at how to help Ted Langley heal, she doesn’t know if he has the same romantic thoughts about her that she possesses about him. His actions appear to indicate he might. But if she can’t trust Renault whose thoughts are an open book to her, how could she possibly allow herself to be interested in a man whose thoughts are a closed book to her?
