Samantha Willis lives with her husband, Tim, in St Albans. Their marriage has settled into a fifteen year lull and although bored with the whole thing, she never imagines Tim would one day announce he was leaving her and wanted a divorce. So begins the story of Sam who is forced to make a new life for herself in her Granny's old house back in Barton upon Humber. Here she meets friends from her childhood, and a new friend with her lovely dog. Sam's confidence grows but when she meets Luke, an archaeologist, whom she mistakes for a gardener, and his brother, Matt, equally mistaken for a vicar, her life really takes a turn for the better. Misunderstandings notwithstanding, Sam forms a bond with Luke but finds her maternal instincts blossom when she meets Lily, Matt's little girl from a previous marriage. She has always wanted children but the chances of that happening are virtually nil after fifteen years of marriage, for which she assumes she is at fault. Join Sam on her voyage of discovery through her friendships and burgeoning hopes for the future, with a few laughs on the way.
