Ta’Shirah’s got the good life. The head cheerleader status, the quarterback boyfriend, the crazy bestie, A'yona, her own ride, and all the freedom a 17 year old senior could want.
Xavier’s life was the furthest thing from good. Full of abuse, neglect and disrespect from his own Mother, Xavier did the only thing he could do, at the time, to save his and his younger brother, Xi’Air’s, lives.
After two and a half years in Juvy, Xavier is released into the custody of his father. He moves to Dayton, where he almost immediately, gets the life he’s always dreamed of.
His first day of school is where he meets Ta’Shirah. In an instant, they become the best of friends. Hanging out all the time, and, in no time, hooking up!
Of course Ta’Shirah didn’t mean to hook up with the new boy so quickly. But, he couldn’t have come at a better time. She had just broken up with her boyfriend, Damien, a few days before Xavier showed up. Damien got suspended for two weeks for putting his hands on Ta’Shirah, when she broke up with him.
Within that two week suspension, Ta’Shirah had moved on. She and Xavier began to spend all their time together. By the time Damien got back to school, Xavier had already taken over his Quarterback position, but most importantly, his girl.
After a few attempts to get her back, plus a well deserved beat down from Xavier, he had to give up. He was pissed. But he wasn’t the only one who was pissed at Ta’Shirah.
A’yona’s jealousy over losing her best friend to this new guy, really got the best of her. Although she hadn’t really lost Ta’Shirah, she couldn’t deal with being over shadowed by Xavier. Before he came into the picture, A’yona was Ta’Shirah’s only friend. By choice, Ta’Shirah was not a people person. Not even she knew why she was so popular. She didn’t socialize with anyone other than A’yona and Damien, and A’yona’s boyfriend, Lamont. And she barely spoke to him. She didn’t even talk to the other cheerleaders. She played her part on game night and at practice, and that was it. A’yona loved being the only friend of the most popular girl in the school. And she didn’t want to share her with anybody.
But Xavier slid on through and rocked everybody’s world. Without any intentions, they both found exactly what they needed. A friend, a true friend. One that wouldn’t cheat on her, or look down on him. One whom they could connect with on every level. One that they could b themselves around, without any judgment.
But as always, with pleasure, comes pain. Xavier and Ta’Shirah had a rocky first few weeks of their courtship, that had them both spiraling out of control. But as they slowly eliminate the snakes in their way, they finally find a little peace and comfort in each others company and love.
As the snakes keep trying to slither their way in, Xavier and Ta’Shirah refuse to let each other go. Apparently Ta’Shirah only has room for one friend in her life. And clearly, its Xavier.
A’yona goes above and beyond to break the happy couple up. But as her behavior gets worst, so does Ta’Shirah’s attitude towards their friendship. Ta’Shirah, annoyed and irritated with the childishness of her dear friend, she’s willing to just go ahead and give it up, all for a chance at a happily ever after with Xavier.
