NAIVE LAWYER by Donald W. Desaulniers
Adam Crook is a brand new attorney who, despite his unfortunate name, is totally honest but very naive. He believes that the hourly billing system harms clients by encouraging lawyers to fight about everything in order to maximize the time spent on each file. Adam opens his own law office and attracts some initial business by urging his clients to be reasonable with their spouses in order to reduce the time spent by the attorneys. Adam also offers to cap his legal fee on any contested marital separation matter. This concept of a fixed maximum fee enrages Adam's competitors who set out to ruin this naive young upstart. To complicate matters, Adam has just begun dating Gail Ballard, a pretty legal secretary with a large law firm. When her bosses discover that Gail is seeing this blasphemous traitor, they give her a dreadful ultimatum. Dump Adam or lose her job.
Is this novice attorney doomed both in business and in love?
