Ramona Esparza runs a diner close to the Sheriff’s office. She knows Jack’s weakness. He needs respectability more than he needs to breathe. She tells Abe and Alexa that he never goes after married women. Abe and Alexa need to get married and consummate the marriage .

There's only one problem, Abe and Alexa don’t get along . Alexa looks down on Abe. Abe dislikes Alexa’s snobbery. They agree to get married to stay alive, but the wedding night has all of the comfort of a cactus mattress .
