Sabrina didn't need a mother or a family. Family either dies on you, messes you up or kicks you out. She was to be a scientist studying the evolution of flowers. But then there were the dreams. What were they trying to tell her? And what did Paris, the holocaust, Notre Dame and Our Lady have to do with anything? She had to clear her mind and concentrate on Tim. Besides, she didn't have a family. At least that is what she thought.
