Millerstone, a quaint Peak District village. But statistically the one with the highest burglary rate per capita in all of England. April Stanislavski, a writer of romance novels with a string of lovers and a passion for amateur dramatics, agrees to help catch the thieves. But when Lady Barnstaple is killed, a web of intrigue follows, a trail of deception that is nearly impossible to unravel. Then someone is arrested and the village breathes a great sigh of relief.
