Undercover by Jay Blair
This book is the first book in the Hidden Hitman Series. This book can be read as a stand-alone.

Emmett Hume is an FBI agent newly assigned to Juarez, Mexico. After the death of some of his state-side team members due to a trap set by the cartel, Emmett finds himself working with an unlikely ally: a hitman for hire who works both for and against the cartel, a sicario named Alejandro.

Emmett, when working undercover, also goes by Emme. When dressed as a woman he can overhear important conversations, and he can also be used as bait. When Alejandro asks for a date with Emme, Agent Hume doesn't know if it was just a set-up, or if Alejandro's motivations run deeper. Before he can find out the truth, Alejandro runs into the local jefe, and whatever happened between them, in the end the jefe is missing, and so is Alejandro's memory. Emmett is assigned to take Alejandro into witness protection as his wife Emme, and when he starts to fall in love he's got nothing but unanswered questions: is it real that he loves a man? Is it wise? And when Alejandro's memory comes back, will it still be mutual?

This book is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. This book does not end in a cliffhanger and has a happy ending.
