The Confiteor takes place in the aftermath of the Cold War and is the story of one man’s battle to determine what his heart really wants – the Church or the woman he loves. While feeling a doubt for his calling as a priest, Fr. Jefferson is suddenly thrust to center stage within the Vatican where he becomes the protégé of the mysterious and disturbing Cardinal Arnold. With the unlikely help of a disgraced CIA agent, Fr. Jefferson finds himself face-to-face with the shadowy and evil ex-Stassi agent, Dietrich Herrod, and discovers that he is a mere pawn in the international intrigue between the West and those seeking to destroy its foundation – Christianity.
The pious and devoted Fr. Jefferson discovers how weak his faith is when a chance encounter with a troubled woman develops into a passion that he has never experienced before. Trying to break free from the temptation that threatens to undermine his devotion to Christ, he is confronted with evidence that makes him doubt Christ’s divinity. Suddenly feeling as if everything he believed in, and sacrificed for, has been wasted, Fr. Jefferson must come to terms with his Creator.
In the end, despite our inability to understand the Divine, The Confiteor shows that God is always present in our lives and will always forgive and never forsake his children.
