Roberta JoAnn started her journey home learning to shoe a horse. Her father said that any of his children that could care for a horse from feeding, mucking the stalls, and shoeing the animal, would be given title to the animal. Bobby Jo was the only one that was determined to have her own horse.

She worked in a newspaper office for two years before she graduated high school, but was still not ready to entertain the idea of marriage. College in Seattle was her dream, but when her mother set up a courtship for her, she had to leave. She ran off in the middle of the night and her real adventure began.

Who is Roberta JoAnn, or Bobby Jo, or BJ? After being knocked unconscious, even she was surprised at the direction her life would take.
