Duty and Deception: Parts I-II by J.L. Redington
In this second edition of the Duty and Deception series, books one and two have been combined into two parts. The first part, Erased begins with Neo.

His memories stolen by a massive car wreck that almost took his life, Neo Weston stares into the mirror each day wondering who this person is staring back at him. Living in the mansion he was raised in, with a household staff that has known him for almost as long as he’s lived there, the place and the people all seem unreal, as if made of paper, but he can’t place why he feels the way he does.

His therapist, Leon, tells him it’s all part of the memory loss suffered in the accident. The battered sports car sits in one of the garage bays, placed there to help him understand why he remembers nothing beyond the previous year.

A tall black stranger, a woman on the beach. The man tells him things he can’t get out of his head, the woman is a puzzle he cannot solve. Who are these people? Why should he care?

Neo is not who he thinks he is, his world is not what it’s supposed to be. Enter the strange world of Neo Weston as he finds out the real truth about his life.

Then in Part II, the story continues with Neo’s best friend.

Desmond Ashler has safely tucked his best friend, Neo Weston, and Neo’s new wife, Sophia, away from the dangerous men who would have Neo for their own greedy purposes. However, keeping this secret has proven to be a danger to both Desmond and his girlfriend, Ciara.

Danger hides in every corner for these four individuals as Neo realizes he must leave the safety of his hidden life and help his friend. What will happen to Sophia if he leaves she and Mrs. Barbosa, departing the seclusion of their safe haven? Evil awaits all of them when Neo returns to the States to help his friend.
