Catching Feelings for a Boss by Jessica M
Being accepted is important to most people, and Emani wasn’t any different. Never feeling like she was good enough or accepted into society tore her up on the inside. From an early age, she didn’t like her dark skin tone, her nappy hair, or her body. She couldn’t for the life of her figure out exactly why she was so different from her sister and other people in her family. Her parents would say she was a “good person” with a loving heart, but in the end, if you weren’t happy with yourself, what others said didn’t matter. Emani, like most young people, sought to make herself appear as the world would have her, but deep down, she was hurting inside.

After years of trying to find herself, now at twenty-five years old, Emani Collins fixed herself to what she thought the world would like and finally did all she could to be the person she wanted to be and what she thought would be acceptable to the world. In the midst of it all, Emani believed she found her true calling, which was to be a teacher. After hard work and many long nights in college, she was now about to begin her dream job as an educator. Straight out of college, she was offered her dream job at her old high school. As excited as she was about being a first-time teacher, the thought of teaching high schoolers scared her. Emani thought that being a teacher of high schoolers would be her biggest issue, but that was far from the truth, especially when she finds herself the unexpected center of a certain someone’s attention.

Vonn Benton was the epitome of fine, and a young hustler. Losing his mother at an early age and being raised by his father had made him a young boss. His mother leaving his life showed him that life was what you made it, and nothing and no one was was forever. He figured if God allowed a person like his mother to die, then no one was exempt, so you’d better rise and grind everyday if you wanted something in life. At seventeen, he was already a young boss and running things. His father always taught him the importance of school and getting an education, so he continued to go, even though he was making enough money to be straight for the rest of his life.

Vonn was used to running the show and having females chasing after him, but when he and the older Emani Collins collide, he becomes the chaser. Emani has to decide if the career she has dreamed of her entire life is worth the lust and attention that Vonn is giving out. She had never experienced a man like Vonn, but quickly learns that dealing with him could be dangerous for her career and her heart. Always being the one to fight for everyone’s respect, it was a breath of fresh air to be the center of attention for a change.

While Vonn starts to chase Emani, he forgets he has a girlfriend already who won’t be so willing to let things go because of his infatuation with Miss Collins. The vindictive Kita Greene wasn’t one to play with, and when she notices things changing between Vonn and herself, she refuses to let him toss her to the side, especially for an older woman. Kita usually gets what she wants and this time would be no different. She fights hard for her man, digging hard to find anything that would discourage her man from being with Emani. Only time will tell if she’s successful.

The ride Emani and Vonn are about to take you on is full of love, lies, and deceit. Nothing is as it seems, especially when you believe you have things figured out. The story will have your emotions all over the place as two people find out who they really are on the inside.
