The banker is still sending killers after Robichaud. That will soon end if Mark Robichaud has his way. Whether he likes it or not he's going to have to kill Baxley or die trying. In the meanwhile, life goes on and Mark has his hands full with outlaws of a different ilk.
The gunman lying on the boardwalk could see him now. He had stopped trying to raise his weapon and it now lay at his side. In the moonlight, Wiley could see his eyes. They were locked on him. Taking one step at the time, Wiley moved toward the hitching rail. Once he was there, he could lean against it for support. Having now swapped his weapon back to his good hand he continued forward.
