Unforgiven by Max Hudson
Magnus Magnussen fled his home in the Shetland Islands when one of his best friends, Angus Roberts, disappeared under mysterious circumstances. When his father dies, he comes home to run the family peat farm after twenty-seven years away. He never told anyone the whole story of what happened to Angus that night on the cliffs, but there are still plenty of people in their tiny village who blame him. His other best friend, Donny Tait, isn't one of them. Nevertheless, it's been a very long time since they've spoken, long enough for Donny to have had a son, one he named after Angus.

When Magnus and the younger Angus meet, there is an instant connection between them. Angus welcomes him when few others do and the two of them share a love of the land and the water. Before long, they're starting a salmon farm on the loch, and very quickly falling in love. Just when it looks like Magnus might be welcomed back into the village, strange things begin to happen, just like they did when Angus Roberts disappeared. Strange lights are seen in the sky, animals begin to act abnormally, and when the body of fifteen-year-old Callum Williams is found in the forest, suspicion begins to fall on Magnus again. It's up to Magnus, Angus, and Donny to get to the truth, and what they find will change the village forever.
