Ashton

They tried to mold me into the perfect socialite to hide what shamed them, but screw that. I am who I am, and I ran from them and my past as if the devil himself were chasing my heels. I’m done doing what everyone wants me to do. It’s time do things my own way, and if that means taking a job that might cause trouble later on—so be it. As long as I have a roof over my head and food to eat, I call that a success. What I can’t handle is Channing Lock trying to figure out all my secrets. There’s a reason I want a new life, and I’m determined to hide the very thing that my own family used against me to make me feel I wasn’t anything without them.

This isn’t how I’d set out to prove myself, but that’s life. It throws curveballs, and you either adjust or it buries you.

I’m tired of suffocating.

Channing

There’s no way I’m letting a woman—any woman—sink her claws into my heart. I’ve seen what love does; it just screws with the mind. My brother, Gabe, is so twisted up inside over a woman he wronged in the past, that he can’t see straight when it comes to the present. Then there’s Colt, my other brother. A mistake made when he was younger brought great repercussions, and now he’s closed himself off to anything meaningful, and drowns himself in alcohol and meaningless hookups. Yeah, I’m so not going down that road. Both my brothers are messed up, and I have no intention of joining that club.

So when Ashton enters my life, why the hell can’t I stay out of her business? Nobody has ever made me feel so territorial, irrational, and just downright unhinged.

Recommended for ages 18+.
