My Heart by Leigh Armstrong
Jamie Morgan is 19 years old living in Covington, Texas with her father dreaming of Art School and living her life through experiences her mother never could have. At the age of five Jamie loses her mother and buries her father soon after her graduation from High School. Her future is on hold by the auction of their family farm and the eviction from her only home. She finds hope in a mysteriously paid tuition to Hopson University twelve hours out of Texas during the reading of her father's will. Before her grief fully consumes her, she packs her small truck and heads towards what she hopes is a new beginning. Hiding among the student body at the University she hopes to find her independence, her strength and maybe salvage the part of her heart that is left broken.
Michael Tucker is a third year student at Hopson University who is looking to change his reckless past, but didn't know where to begin. His family has wealth on paper, but his relationship with his father has diminished over the years only to be held together by his mother and the love she has for both men. His relationships with girls have proven to disappoint due to his lack of commitment for anyone other than himself. Until one day a knock at the door brings him face to face with a beautiful, green eyed girl soaked from the rain who just so happens to be looking to rent his vacant room. His heart felt the hit immediately. He wants to know more about her but he senses sadness in her eyes and wants to protect her from whatever has caused her pain. Could he fall for a girl so quickly? Why is he so drawn to her?
During the course of the next year the two will build a friendship through patience and kindness that will help them discover what they needed most was each other. Yet, their new-found happiness will be tested by a vindictive ex-girlfriend with a plan to keep Michael for herself and getting rid of Jamie anyway she can. Through a series of peculiar events, Michael is left hurt in a car accident holding on to the memory of Jamie as she has now gone missing.
