by Jamie Rider
It's a warm summer evening in Kansas and Beth's expectations are pretty low. Granted she agreed to spend the night at her brother and sister-in-law's house, like usual, but now she's counting down the minutes until bedtime. The evening just hasn't been all that exciting and Beth is ready to retire. Things, though, are about to change.
It starts with the weed Cody pulls out from the recesses of his kitchen cabinet. Never having smoked before, Beth watches uneasily as the others light up. It progresses to Jenny, a girl from their past. A girl others can't seem to stop talking about. Once her best friend, Jenny screwed Beth over one final time before leaving town for good. Beth has been trying to forget about her ever since.
Desperate to move on and eager to ditch her Snow White image, Beth finally agrees to try the drug before jumping headlong into a game of Truth or Dare. As the game progresses, stakes grow higher, inhibitions fall away and certain truths come to light. If Beth has any hope of salvaging the tangled relationships with those around her, she is going to have to face her past - a past she has been avoiding for years. That means facing a night long ago at Batcher's Pond and the fallout from it. Beth is going to have to resurrect Jenny. And she will have to take a risk.
The result of which will change all the people involved forever.
