Zeus is starting to lose it. Having sex with Max has made him start to worry about how he will maintain the humanity that he has fought for for so long. Max makes him feel like the monster never existed, and this makes Zeus afraid that he will forget his guilt and let his guard down thus letting the monster roam free.

In a fit of panic Zeus remembers how he went too far with his violence and got chased out of New York and separated from his maker. He recalls this moment to remind himself of how important his guilt is to keep him in check. He ends up announcing that he is going to stop making art and is leaving New York.

Max has started to suspect that Zeus is afraid of coming out and this is why he is ignoring him. However, when he hears of Zeus’s decision he rushes to his places and Zeus confesses to him that he is a vampire. Max reveals that his parents are vampires, the gene skipped his generation. Zeus reveals how he was weaned off human blood out of necessity when he was forced to live in the wilderness and how he won back his humanity.
