When Kate McCallister isn't knee-deep in wretched work assignments passed off to her from her internet-surfing boss, her schedule is filled with happy hours, dinners, vacations, and career choices. Kate is twenty-six and having the time of her life thanks to her Manhattan crowd that talks too loud, laughs even louder, and provides endless entertainment. Although Kate's life is full of excitement, she also knows it lacks one crucial thing: direction. She bumbles through her workday and personal life alike, praying for superpowers-from invisibility to time travel -just to have some semblance of control over her out-of-control life.
After one last indecent encounter with the world, Kate realizes she must demand respect from her personal and professional worlds. With the reigns of her life in one hand and a margarita in the other, Kate is determined to find a better self. On the way, she finds herself in a public-make out session at the office party and singing in the bathroom stall of a strip club after accidentally consuming an unidentified pill. All the while, there is one friend, Dax Vanderlene, who is waiting for Kate to complete this journey of "finding herself." A playboy himself, he gets Kate, and their unfolding love story is at the heart of this novel. In the end, Kate rolls with life's punches and, though with a little less grace and poise than most, ultimately does earn and discover her self-worth.
