This is a tale set in Emperor Charlemagne’s Holy Roman Empire in the north-west section of the kingdom of Austrasia, (now known as East Belgium) in the year, 800A.D.
Three noble women, who were raised in the pagan religion of the Druids, now must convert to Christianity along with their people by the order of the Emperor Charlemagne. Those who chose not convert are pursued and burned at the stake. These Frankish royal dames do their best to survive through these harsh times while finding some joy and happiness in each other’s company. Each woman has her own set of problems to deal with, but these problems take on a new and larger dimension as the fates interweave their destinies.
