Note: this is a "sweet romance," meaning very little in the way of cussing and no sex. It is not a "religious" or "inspirational" romance.

Lynn Canfield’s debut novel, "Unscripted," takes us inside a privileged screenwriter and film actor’s world. Aggravated with a nobody being hired to alter a script he secretly co-wrote, gorgeous 33-year old actor Ted Jacobs finds himself at loggerheads with ghosting 30-year old screenwriter Liz, a girl-next-door from Michigan who’s not only brand-new to show business, but naive when it comes to both that and men.

Fireworks explode but then a truce is called as these unlikely partners team up to write a movie together. Just as things are moving along nicely with both the film and them getting to know each other, Liz’s beloved grandmother passes away back home, leaving her broken inside in a way she doesn’t think anybody can fix. When she finds herself having to return to St. Clarence to tangle with her nasty uncle and confront her estranged father in the aftermath of her loss, Ted surprisingly volunteers to accompany her.

Can he get over himself long enough to realize how much she’s already changed him? Can she climb out of her sorrow enough to see what he’s trying to offer her?
