Denise Samuels, a former FBI trainee, has spent years working undercover to protect the daughter of the woman who raised her. Now that the case is over, she must decide what to do with her career and life. Edwin McAlister is intrigued by the spunky, smart-mouthed woman whose attitude reminds him of his younger sister, Cali. Unfortunately, he is involved in a romantic relationship with someone else, but his thoughts are always on Denise.

Denise’s new job as a bounty hunter is dangerous, and she is injured multiple times. Each time Edwin is faced with the realization that Denise means more to him than he has been willing to admit.
