A Price Above Gold by Anna Hauck
A spoiled Southern belle whose entire existence revolves around gowns and balls, Claire Wilkins is jarred to reality when her beloved father suffers a fatal heart attack; leaving behind a lot of debts and unpaid loans in his wake.
Desperate to help her mother and two younger sisters in their time of intense need, she answers a mail order bride ad placed by Jake, a hardworking, no nonsense rancher who is working his way up from poverty. Although at first repelled by Claire’s proud ways and sometimes spoiled, snobbish demeanor, he nonetheless finds himself inexplicably drawn to this fiery, elegant beauty.
Although at first resistant to a life of poverty and hard toil, Claire eventually joins him to discover the value of hard work--and of true love. Soon the two discover that the bond between them carries a price well above gold—and is the one thing that money just can’t buy.
