Neon Vice by Jessica Marting
It’s going to be the road trip from hell.

An embarrassing incident at a corporate dinner party has Josh Hawthorne scrambling to find a replacement android companion for his sociopath of a boss. Unfortunately, that model has been discontinued and the only way to find a new one is to scavenge the long-abandoned factories of the derelict Eastern Badlands. To get there and back safely, he needs help, and he finds it in the sketchiest part of Mission City.

Electronics dealer Madeline Atwood jumps at the chance to help Josh and take enough of his money to start her life over. His boss being the man responsible for her mother’s death gives her the chance to exact some very expensive payback, all the better to tweak the nose of his stuffy assistant.

But once on the road, there’s only so much they can argue over whose turn it is to drive. Working as a team to look for a vintage android that may not exist anymore has a way of bringing people together, even when they’re total opposites. And what they say about opposites attracting isn’t far from either of their minds …
