Lord to Love Again by Grace Sellers
The road to love isn't easy, and sometimes it's animals who guide the way…

Caroline Holland, resigned to spinsterhood for herself, nonetheless must take a chaperone position to help her cousin, Nelly, secure a husband. Nelly may be the most frivolous, spoiled debutante to ever simper across a ballroom floor, but surely her dowry will persuade some rich lord that she's a suitable bride. Once compensated as Nelly's chaperone, Caroline will be able to care for her shell shocked brother.

Alexander Montgomery, Earl of Wolfolk, would rather be kicked by a horse than play the games of England's ton . Known as the Silent Earl, he needs funds to restore his ancestral seat. Against his better judgement, he accepts an invitation to a summer house party in Yorkshire.

Once there, all of nature seems to conspire against him, right down to the dog who adopts Alexander against his will. Nelly's dowry could fill his coffers, and he should be pursuing her... yet it's her cousin who captivates him. Caroline may be headstrong, but she's also kind, capable, and temptingly lovely.

Caroline cannot understand why the Earl keeps paying attention to her instead of Nelly... or why he inspires in her such a confusing welter of emotions. Can she persuade him to court her cousin properly? And can the Earl bring himself to sacrifice love for duty?

Lord to Love Again , a standalone Regency romance, features a stubborn lord, a strong-willed heroine, a baby squirrel... and a very happy ending.
