This is the story of Captain Havers, having seen his friend married to Mary (Mary's Sacrifice) Driving his phaeton with not a care in the world, George first sees one white satin shoe lying in the road followed by another and then a posy of pink roses. A short distance further along the road he discovers a young woman sitting on the grassy bank crying. What else could the gallant captain do but stop?
