Duty or Dishonour

Ryan Carmichael has never heard anything more preposterous in his life than him being a guardian to a three and twenty-year-old woman. He knows nothing about women, except how to bed them. Besides, isn't three and twenty a little too old for a guardian to be necessary? He has no idea what to do, or what a woman like her needs. It's a recipe for disaster.

But it quickly transpires that Lilias needs a guardian to protect her. She tries to keep her distance from him, especially when he makes his reluctance to be her guardian perfectly clear.
