Rose by Linda Walker
Rose is the third book in the 3rd Generation Lakota Series. This series takes place around the time of the Louis and Clark expedition. However, there was a lesser-known exploration made by Lt. Pike. He traveled up the Mississippi River about a year after Louis and Clark first contacted the Lakota. It is during this exploration time frame our story takes place.
Read about an amazing young woman named Rose and the strength she had to survive the harrowing experience of her young life. See how she became a loving and caring person who would do what it took to save her son and her people.

Rose was only ten summers when she was taken captive by a Kiowa raiding party. She was frightened, not knowing what would happen to her. She did not understand the words they spoke, and they refused to sign to her to explain where they were taking her.
The Kiowa did not keep her long before they traded her to what her people called the funny speaking men. Rose soon learned that these men were called Spaniards. She also learned at a young age to do as she was told or suffer the consequences.
When Rose was sixteen summers, her master took her to a slave auction and sold her. A young Spanish man bought her and to her surprise, wanted to marry her. She agreed, and they were married before he took her to his ranch. Once there, Rose learned just how cruel her new father in law could be.
Rose’s husband finally has enough and says he will take her and their son back to her people and even live there with her. Rose is excited to see her family again finally and knew her and her son will be safe.
However, is the price she must pay too much? Will she be strong enough to endure all she has to go through after the life she has had? Does what her people ask her to do for them finally break her?
This book, as all my books, is clean fiction, although it does contain bits of history throughout the story.
