Broke and Famous by Elizabeth Gannon
A famous family on the decline…
A forbidden affair…
Love isn’t an exact science

Sasha Westgate was the heir apparent to a storied scientific dynasty. The Westgates, “The First Family of Interdimensional Travel,” are dedicated to have having over-the-top scientific adventures and saving the world. Once the most powerful family in Reichelt Park, they are now on the decline thanks to their tendency to have doomed adventures and ruinous loves. Years ago, scandal caused Sasha to leave her home behind and desperately try to forget her old life. But now, broke and famous, she’s forced to return to the town— and the forbidden man —she left behind.

Thraex is an inescapable maze of a man. Simply a bastard from a nightmare dimension who the Westgates rescued and brought home one day as their ward, Threax has spent his whole life living on the outskirts of their rigid, gossiping society. But his piercing bedroom eyes hid an unexpected intelligence and drive, and now he’s in complete control of The Westgate Foundation. And the Westgates themselves. He’s determined to force the family back to their former greatness, if it kills them all! …And most of that plan involves keeping his former step-sister as close to him as possible.
Now, murder, crazy science, and carnal temptation collide in the sultry heat of Reichelt Park.

“This book is like if Tennessee Williams wrote The Fantastic Four and Rick & Morty as a romance novel. It’s a mix of a 1990s Southern Gothic romance and a 1960s Science Adventure tale. And it has a tiny giraffe. All books should have a tiny giraffe. To Kill a Mockingbird would have been a thousand times better if a tiny giraffe had been a part of the cast.” - The author, who is completely unbiased, obviously.
