Reckoning: A New Orleans Mafia Romance by Lux Miller
Not everyone gets a second chance with their first love, but not everyone’s first love is part of a mafia crime family, either. When I married Dante, I knew that he would be powerful in his family’s crime syndicate as the Boss’s right-hand man. I also knew that our marriage solidified an integral alliance between the New Orleans underground and my police chief father’s men. What I didn’t know is that everything I thought knew about the looming war with a deadly drug cartel was wrong. My marriage may have paid the city’s ransom, but the vows were real and I will fight for it with everything I have to prove that Dante and I deserve happily ever after. But can we overcome our painful past? Or will it forever haunt us and jeopardize our future?

This book is the second in a duet and picks up immediately from a cliffhanger. If you have not read the first book in the series, you WILL be confused. The duet has its own HEA and can be read without reading its predecessor, but it is highly recommended to read the Emily trilogy first to understand the dynamics of the relationships between the characters. This book has mature content that is intended for audiences 18+ including situations which may be triggering for some.
