An Amish Christmas Story

Two years ago, doctors gave Hannah news after routine surgery that broke both her heart, and her spirit, forever changing her life. Her dreams of ever having a family of her own now dashed, she avoids looking for love, wanting to spare both herself, and any potential husband the pain she keeps buried deep within.

But at the craft store where she works, especially at this time of year, families come in, happy together in their merry and joy and it's almost too much to bear. So when Hannah notices a pregnant woman shopping, something in her finally breaks, and she excuses herself so she can pull it together, taking a minute for herself while her friend watches the store. 

She's tired of living this way, and her hope diminishes at ever having what she wants, for she knows no Amish man would marry a woman who can't provide them a family. She just needs to come to terms with it, once and for all. So Hannah builds the wall already around her heart yet higher still. 

But Christmas should be a season of celebration. And the Spirit of God has a way of fulfilling our heart's desire, even if not always in the way we expect, as long as we abide in Him and He in us.
